Acebeam TAC 2AA Flashlight review:
This is a slim and light 14100 powered flashlight, it has dual EDC/Tactical modes and comes in a complete package:
- Flashlight
- 14100 LiIon Battery with USB-C charging
- usb cable A/C standard
- lanyard
- 2x spare orings and rubber boot
- 2x diffusers White/red-orange
- manual and papers
- battery insulator for storage
The light uses a single SFT-25R HI 6500K cool white LED, the declared Max Output on the website (turbo) is 1400lms/304m/23104cd, the turbo only lasts about a minute, then the stepdown reduces the Brightness ( and it goes to 550-430-280lm, declared)
The light has other 4 modes, Moonlight (1.5lm), Low (30lm), Medium (100lm) and High (350lm), we’ll see later how to change them.
It’s powered by the included LiIon 14100 USB-C rechargeable battery, the declared capacity is 1.600mah.
The capacity is a little less than 2×14500 (2x 900/2x1000mah) because of the charging components integrated in the positive pole.
I can’t measure the actual capacity as it’s not compatible with my VC4S.
The Battery has a colored led indicating charging (red) and charged status (green).
The TAC 2AA is operated by a forward-clicky mechanical switch with rubber boot, by lightly pressing it the light emits momentary light and can be used for signaling or tactical applications.
Pressing the rubber switch completely, turns the light on.
To change modes, there is a metal e-switch on the side, which is backlit, the switch can cycle through the modes as follows:
- turns the light on/off (standby mode) single click
- double click to turbo, double click goes back to the previous mode (no memory in EDC mode)
- press to cycle Low->Med>High
- triple click 15hz strobe (no memory)
- the light memorizes the last mode (EDC MODE)
With the light OFF (main switch) if you press the e-switch and the main clicly switch, you cycle between EDC and Tactical mode.
Tactical mode only has TURBO (+stepdown)
The e-switch has 2 indicating colors, above 30% it’s green, below it’s red, indicating there’s not much power left.
Acebeam declares the TAC 2AA can be submerged down to 2 meters as per IP68 standard and can withstand drops of 1.5 meters.
There is a constant current circuit with LVP without any flickering or PWM, the light can tailstand, even with a lanyard and has glass AR coated lens.

When taking it out of the box, there’s a plastic battery insulation under the tailcap, remove it or the light doesn’t work.
There’s also a plastic sticker on the lens, it should removed first (not pictured).
The battery has a standard USB-C connector, charging an estimated 1A, common on batteries and flashlight bodies, and it charges the battery in a fair amount of time, it took between 30 minutes and 2hrs depending on the battery status.
There’s a Red/green indicator light (not pictured) on the positive pole of the battery next to the usb-port.
The battery is an uncommon LiIon 14100 size (sized like 2x 14500 or 2 AA) with declared 1.600mah of capacity.
NOTE: the light can run on one 14100 OR 2x AA (alkaline or nimh recharegeables), NOT 2x 14500, the voltage would fry pill and LED! Acebeam asked me to specify this.
I was super happy when I found out there’s not ONE but TWO diffusers in the package!

This one is anodized HAIII with a nice blue color.

There is a black 2-way deep carry clip attached, not screwed, to the body.
It comes already attached, removing it might scratch the finish.
The 2 way clip allows it to be clipped to pockets, deep carry style or on caps or other slim surfaces.
On the tailcap there is the main forward clicky switch, it allows momentary/tactical use of the flashlight or always on function when completely pressed.
It has a textured rubber boot and Acebeam provides a spare in the package, another uncommon practice among flashlight companies.
The tailcap allows careful tailstanding, and has 2 lanyard holes.
On the head we find the secondary backlit metal e-switch, it can only be used while the light has been turned on with the main tailcap switch.

The declared Max Output (turbo) is 1400lms/304m/23104cd
It’s only available on the BLUE one and costs 3$ more on the official website, the other colors use a TN 6500K HD LED with a Max Output: 1600lms/181m/8190cd.
To my understandings, the SFT-25 LED is much more of a thrower with 23104 declared candela.
The reflector is smooth and the beam has an awesome concentrated round spot with a lot of spill.
The beam is common in Acebeam lights, it’s very defined, more than on other flashlights.
The lens appears to be made of glass.
The head is crenelated.
(Apologise but mine has already some chipped anodization)
The tailcap has square cut threads and one single oring, screwing is fairly smooth, being aluminium.
The tailcap spring is gold plated.

The light is claimed to be waterproof to IP68 certifications, therefore i let it spend a night in the freezer, getting completely frozen.
I took it out in the morning and let it thaw for 24 hours on the balcony.
The light works perfectly, the moonlight mode is good for a week constantly on, with the provided liion battery.
After a night in the freezer:
After thawing and 24hrs on the plastic box, frozen, thawed, submerged.
No humidity inside, no leaks…All good!

Last Words and Conclusions:
Acebeam was kind to send me the light to test, the review is honest with positive and negative experiences with the light. I was not paid for the review.
What I like:
- Great price, only 49,90$ for the complete package
- sleek and lightweight
- very good beam
- complete package
- battery included
- 2 diffusers included
- runs on 2xAA batteries in case of need
- dual mode
- mode memory
What I DON’T like:
- aluminium head gets easily scratched
- i prefer neutral white LEDs
Other considerations:
- a belt sheath would be good, it’s not really a pocket-friendly light
