This review is about the WURKKOS HD03 Clip Monster Flashlight
The Package is ready to use and comes with the following:
- Wurkkos HD03 with a colored body
- USB-C/C cable
- a lanyard with clasp
- manual and papers
This flashlight is a tribute to those Boxy Angled Lights from the 80’s and 90’s that used a 4,5v battery and a simple incandescent light, so many memories from when we were kids! anyone remember those? I had a green one I used while camping in my Grandpa’s Garden.
This modern version has a LiPo Battery, USB-C charging and many LEDS!
It sports 9x 5000k HI-CRI LEDs, 1x 6-6500k cook white spot and 9x RGB (Red Green Blue) LEDs.
All LEDs are under a a dual TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optic made of plastic.
The Flood 5000k LEDs are under a frosted part with an angle of 87°, the 6500k LED is under a downward angled part that looks like a window blind, those that fold and is angled at 18,2°.
The RGB LEDS rest on the MCPB and cannot be seen without taking the flashlight apart.
Talking about outputs, the declared lumens are 680 for the CW, 320 for the NW and probably 10-20lm for the RGB, depending on the color.
I’ve used it in medium modes the most, to get some good lighting and runtime.
There are 4 main modes (L-M-H-T) and a Moonlight mode
Strobe, Beacon, SOS and Beacon work for the main LEDS, while the RGB has around 20+ modes of output, fixed color, changing, beacon, flashing, bike and police strobe, party light etc.
There is no memory, only between flood and spot while on, if you turn it off it goes back to LOW (mode 1)
I got about 1hr runtime on a medium flood level while out camping and preparing firewood, high and turbo make the runtime much shorter, about 15′.
The RGB modes go on for many hours, never had it deplete in a year while on a bike, clipped inside the tent or attached to the backpack at night.

Using it is very easy, you unlock it with 3x clicks on the power button on the right and it starts on LOW on the pre-selected output mode flood/spot on the left (looking into the leds) side.
Holding the power button cycles between modes (L-M-H-T)
3x clicks while ON cycle Strobe-SOS-2″Beacon, all on TURBO only.
2x clicks from OFF turn on the RGB and 2x more clicks cycle the modes, to change the fixed or blinking mode you hold, all other modes are fixed and cannot be changed.
The modes are easy to learn and operate even in stressful moments o in complete Darkness
Moonlight can be accessed holding the light when locked.
Lockout is only manual, a 1-2′ timer would be good imho.
The light is also equipped with a great clip, a rear magnet and a lanyard hole, where you can put the provided lanyard with a round clasp.
To finish is a 600mah LiPo battery (500mA charging), a USB-C port with rubber cap which make it splash proof to IPX6 and a power indicating LED on the main switch.
The power indicating switch has Green-Orange-Red indicators, mine usually goes from green to red directly…
Lastly there is ATR (Automatic Temperature Regulation) and a 1,5mt drop resistance, mine fell countless times camping and is fine, not even many scratches.

(Looking from the front) on the Left is the SPOT/FLOOD switch, i t can be both operated while the light is OFF/Locked or ON, so you can decide which mode you need even with the HD03 off.
(Looking from the front) on the right is the POWER SWITCH with the GREEN/ORANGE/RED LED to indicate power, the indicator stays on for about 5-6″ to save power.
This switch is also used to change modes and outputs.
This is the dual TIR OPTIC, a Total Internal Reflector Lens that is frosted for the FLOOD LEDS and has a downward ridged pattern for the SPOT are
For the flood mode there are 9x 5000K Hi Cri undefined LEDS that have a slight PWM pulse that is only visible with a camera, no pulsing is ever visible when using the light.
For the spot output there is a 6000-65000k Cool White LED.
I’m not a fan of cool tints but it is still very useable and has a longer throw used eg. while walking.
In the picture below it appears greenish, in reality the tint is pretty classic bluish cool white.
I usually like the red for night vision, location, beacon and here you can see the intense red LEDs in action, the changing of colors is pretty fast and the red is hard to get spot on as it quicly changes from orange-red-purple.
The red LEDs also should last longer being less mAh absorbing than green or blue (usually the most power hungry color), might be an hour longer but it’s good to know :)

Wurkkos for the HD03 has been creative with the lanyard which is a standard phone like cord with a plastic loop, attached to a round clasp and a knotted 550 paracord lanyard
to charge the Wurkkos HD03 Clip Monster you get a USB-C standard port under a rubber boot that swivels around the top of the flashlight, here on my orange one
On the back there is a clip (unlike the 80’s models) with 2 rubber pads and the model etching on the back
The magnet under the clip’s tip is pretty strong and holds well on metal surfaces

Last Words and Conclusions:
I got the BLUE flashlight sent by WURKKOS to review, I was not paid for the review, what you read is my honest and personal opinion.
The others were bought with personal money.
What I like:
- very compact and lightweight
- USB-C charging built-in
- good battery life for the size and capacity
- beams are good
- good output without exaggeration
- doesn’t get too “hot” even on turbo
What I DON’T like:
- cool white LEDs for the spot
Other considerations:
- a wonderful mini monster indeed, highly suggested given special offers and a generally low price of about 15usd/12€ a piece
